Eleven in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear
Chosen by Chris Scott-Gray, writer and business development consultant
Eleven is in my home town of Sunderland and believe me, when I was a kid there was nothing like this.
This is a great menswear store, partly because it is such a contrast to everything that went before, but mainly because it has a relaxed style, a fascinating mix of labels, charming service and a non-linear way of displaying products.
When I first saw Eleven’s store I wondered if Sunderland had enough footballers to keep a store like this going (despite ex-manager Roy Keane’s shopaholic transfer policy), but I soon realised that this is a home for menswear aficionados rather than just flashy dressers.
Moet in Stafford
Chosen by Stacey Booth, chief executive of womenswear brand Betty Barclay
There is a really warm, inviting ambience at Moet and the attitude of everyone in the team reflects the personalities of the owners Andy and Mo Griffin, who seem to have relentless passion. Their enthusiasm is contagious and is tempered with a wicked sense of humour in the eye.
A focus on customer service has helped build a loyal customer base over the years and, from my own conversation with its customers, many people travel quite a distance to visit the shop.
